We found YOUR channel in the middle of the night while searching for ways to position the pee container to get proper flow while sleeping (trying to sleep). THANK YOU FOR MAKING YOUR VIDEOS. Some people can break things down and simplify what needs done... you do a great job.
I knew absolutely nothing about catheters and decided to search the Internet. While there were hundreds of postings, I didn't find anything helpful until I came across a YouTube video made by Tony Alcindor giving tips for sleeping with a Foley catheter. The short video gave practical nonclinical information from someone personally impacted by catheter usage. I found that he had made a series of videos detailing his own journey from initial insertion to the final removal after his operation. These intensely Peer support personal videos resonated with me, settled and calmed me, and gave me hope that eventually I would no longer have the need for advice. I would highly recommend these series of videos to anyone like me totally unprepared for the need of a catheter.
Tony’s videos came at a perfect time for me. I was about to have a prostatectomy. Watching Tony’s videos helped me understand what was going to happen, and what I needed to do to prepare, and gave specific strategies that would help me recover smoothly. I’m in a better place now because of Tony’s honesty and heart to support others.
I am immensely grateful to Tony. When I was told that my best chance of remission from prostate cancer was to have a salvage radical prostatectomy which would require an Indwelling catheter for three weeks I freaked out. A medical technician had once tried catheterizing me a few years prior while I was fully awake once and the experience was so painful and traumatic that I contemplated not having the surgery. I looked for information on how to deal with a catheter which eventually brought me to Tony’s YouTube channel and his website. Both provided a wealth of helpful information on living with a catheter and when I reached out to Tony he shared even more information and did so positively and compassionately.
My surgery was more involved than normal because I had scar tissue from previous failed radiation and my recovery was a challenge. Thanks to Tony’s help however I knew what to accept from living with a catheter and I accepted living with it without undue anxiety.
Thank you Tony for helping me and countless other men by sharing your personal experience and what you’ve learned along the way!
Thank you so very much for your videos! This video inspired me to seek out a way to shower untethered to a bag. I found a catheter valve that I can close for showering and switching bags. The tubing tripped me up in the shower a couple of times and I was hoping you had made a video addressing this issue. So many of your videos have helped me, and I'm very grateful to you.
I've personally spoken with Tony and his mission, heart and knowledge of the subject are of the highest intention for helping others and for myself. He is a true gem. He is imparting information of his personal experience that in my opinion is far beyond what I've gotten from what doctors and their clinics gave to me. Very valuable.
You, sir, are a rock star! All of these videos are the saving grace as we're trying to navigate a new catheter lifestyle for my husband. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. XOXO
Peer Support: A Gift to You
I no longer charge for peer support because everyone deserves understanding and guidance, regardless of their financial situation. It breaks my heart to think someone might struggle alone simply because they can't afford help. Offering this support freely is my way of giving back and ensuring no one feels isolated on their catheter journey. If you feel inclined, donations are welcome and will go toward helping me continue this work—but they are never expected. I’m here to help, and I’m honored to be part of your journey. Tony
